Matthew Burge is a digital artist living in Atlanta, GA. His fine artwork has been featured in galleries and museums. His digital print, Alpha and Omega, was exhibited at the Boca Raton Museum of Fine Arts. He also exhibited the piece “33 vertebrae”, a multi-monitor experimentation, in Electronics Alive III at the University of Tampa. Burge has been featured in various festivals and art events such as the opening of the SCAD Atlanta Digital Media Center. Burge art directed the creation of a virtual Koi pond for the opening ceremonies of the building. As a projection artist, he worked with the Medeology Collective performing live video work at Eyedrum in Atlanta. He has done commercial video work for clients including Hublot, McClaren, and Italia. Burge was part of the video showcase at Atlanta's Le Flash festival where his animated type piece, “Night Whisper” was featured. In 2011, Burge was invited to show his piece, Duets ala Turk, at Atlanta’s Flux projects. Recently he also participated in the multimedia show, “Give Me A Minute,” at the Shirey Gallery in Brooklyn curated by Amber Boardman.
Burge received his undergraduate degree in fine arts from the University of South Florida. He obtained an MFA in art and technology from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois.
Burge has been teaching design and computer art for over 13 years. Burge focuses on the creation of 3D mapped sculptures and environments. Burge is currently Professor of Motion Media Design at the Savannah College of Art.
